Museums
Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic can also be called as the land of museums. There are 28 museums and a museum type establishment - Nakhchivan State Art Gallery here. The number of exhibitions protected in the museums is 110000 in general.
Heydar Aliyev Museum
The museum was founded in 1999 in Nakhchivan city. Stands of Heydar Aliyev's family, his childhood, and youth, personal documents and materials, signed letters, decisions, and orders of the period when he was the Chairman of the Supreme Assembly of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic (1991-1993), copies of the agreements signed in cooperation with the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Republic of Turkey, appeals of citizens living in different regions of Azerbaijan. The museum is comprised of 5 sections. Newspapers, magazines, albums, and books reflecting the life and activity of national leader Heydar Aliyev, and other personal items belonging to him are saved in the library of museum. There are 4525 exhibitions in the museum in general.

Nakhchivan State History Museum
Nakhchivan State History Museum was founded in 1924 as a history-ethnography museum. Later museum got the state status. 34494 exhibitions belonging to the rich and ancient history of Nakhchivan are preserved in the Nakhchivan State History Museum. Exhibiton mainly includes 4 periods - ancient, medieval, present time, and modern time. Museum consists of 10 departments. Various types of tools, things of Paleolit and Neolit periods, grain stones, boards of obsidian, stone hammers, bone needles, copper and silver money samples discovered in the NakhchivanAutonomous Republic territory, tomb of monumental Momina Khatun, Yusif Kuseyir built by the prominent architect of the Middle Ages, Ajami Abubakir oghlu Nakhchivani and pictural materials about other architectural monuments, carpet manufacture, jewelry, braziership, pottery, carving samples, beautiful handicrafts of folk masters concerning to decorative applied arts are exhibited here.

The Nakhchivan State Carpet Museum
The museum was founded in 1998. It continued its activity in a new building located in the Heydar Aliyev avenue from 20 March, 2010. There are 3295 material-cultural samples in the museum fund. 331 of them are carpets. 283 exhibits are exhibited. Exhibits were grouped according to the Nakhchivan carpet manufacture schoolings. Carpets decorated with fine and deilcate ornaments concerning to different periods are exhibited in the museum exhibition. There are fleecy carpets, mashraf, carpet without pile, cecim, kilim, sumakh, felt, mat, carpets having a plot, and others. Geometric and nabati form ornaments of carpets characterize our national culture dating from the past. Carpets having simple, realist, or abstract ornaments are the proof of high level creativity of our nation. There are 124 carpets of Tabriz-Nakhchivan group in the museum. In the museum artistic embroidery and cloth items, arrow bogs of patch weaving, saddle-bag, rope, sack, saccada, wool comb, wood havas, kirgits, iron havas, loop kuife, and other exhibits are also exhibited. In 2013, after reconstruction of the Nakhchivan State Carpet Museum exposition enriched.

The House Museum of Husein Javid
The museum was founded in 1981 in the house of Huseyn Javid, romantic Azerbaijan literature founder. 9111 exhibits are collected in its fund. Among them, there are photos reflecting life and creativity of Huseyn Javid, first editions of his works, works having sign of poet, posters and programs of staged drama works, different recollections and household goods and etc. Research works and recollections of Javid learners are also exhibited in the exhibition. The Museum of Bahruz Kangarli
Bahruz Kangarli Museum was founded in 2002, in Nakhchivan city, with the purpose of immortalizing the memory of prominted representative of artistic trade, realist tool painting founder Bahruz Kangarli. Here 781 exhibits are preserved and exhibited, 56 of them are the original works of painter, others are photo copies of his works, also documents dealing with family, life, and creativity, household goods and other materials.
Because of illness, he lived a short life and got chance to be busy with creativity only 7 years. B.Kangarli created 2000 pictures.

The Literature Museum of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic named after J.Mammadguluzadeh
The museum was founded in 1966. It has 18897 exhibits. Precious manuscripts, applied and descriptive art samples, ancient and modern books, paper and magazines, memorial things and other museum materials reflecting centuries-old Azerbaijan literature history are kept in its fund. Exhibition includes prominent members of classic and modern Azerbaijan literature, creativity of poets, writers and art critics brought up in Nakhchivan.
There are works of painting and sculpture in various jenres created by Azerbaijan brush masters, documents delaying with Nakhchivan theatre history-posters, programs, spectacles, sketches, also photos reflecting prominent theatre masters' creativity in the exhibition and fund.

The House Museum of Jalil Mammadguluzadeh
The museum was founded in 1999 in the house where Jalil Mammadguluzadeh was born, spent his child-hood and youth years. In the museum 1810 exhibits concerning the life and creativity of great literary man are exhibited. Among museum exhibits, there are personal household goods of Jalil Mammadguluzadeh and his family members, also works of the writer, documents belonging to his contemporaries and etc.

The House Museum of Jamshid Nakhchivanski
The museum was founded in 1981, in anniversary year of general Jamshid Nakhchivansky, the representative of Kangarli khans family, Azerbaijan Shooting Division commander, in the house he lived. In the museum, 3427 exhibits - photos reflecting Jamsid Nakhchivansky's life and creativity, orders and medals, different documents, books, letters and manuscripts, personal belongings and household goods, and etc, are exhibited. Among them, there are articles and books devoted to Jamshid Nakhchivansky, Azerbaijan Shooting Division history, the way of fight passed hold special place.

The Memorial Museum
Memorial Museum was founded in 2000 with the purpose of immortalizing memories of genocide victims caused by armenians, the Nakhchivanians died in the battles for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan. The museum continues to operate in a new building near the Alley of Martyrs since 2015.
In the museum, 1284 exhibits, consisting of genocide facts, martyrs photos, materials including fighting activity against armenians, also photos of National and Soviet Union heroes, personal belongings and other materials belonging to them, are preserved and exhibited.

"Khan Palace" State Historical-Architectural, Momina Khatun and in the open air museum complex
Nakhchivan khanate was founded in 1747 by Huseyngulu khan, lived 81 year, due to the signed Turkmanchay peace treaty, on 10 February, 1828, Nakhchivan and Iravan khanates were liquidated formally being Russian component. In 1787-1797 years, khan of Nakhchivan khanate, during 1797-1820 period the ruling of Nakhchivan khanate, Kalbali khan I built Khan Palace in Nakhchivan city. Although Khan Palace was in neglected condition within different periods, it was preserved. Having a territory of 9429km2, Nakhchivan khanate was of great importance in Azerbaijan statehood for its statehood traditions, preserving lands. Taking into account Nakhchivan khanate's role in national statehood, services in preserving Azerbaijan land in this territory, by the 23 October, 2010 year resolution of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Supreme Majlis Chairman, “Khan Palace” State History-Architecture Museum was founded, and according to 11 Ferbruary, 2015 Decree no13 of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Cabinet of Ministers, it continues to operate under the name of "Khan Palace" State Historical-Architectural, Momina Khatun and in the open air museum complex. At present, there are more than 1409 exhibits in 8 exhibition halls of museum. Among these exhibits, archives, photos, Nakhchivan khanates family, khanate map are exhibited.
A part of the complex, museum in the open air was founded in 2002, in Ajami Observation of Nakhchivan city. It contains 450 exhibits. Most of them are ram figures. Furthermore, material-cultural samples - aries sculpture made of stone, stone inscription, different stone figures, grave sandugas, and others of different periods found in Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic territory are preserved and exhibited.

Historical and Architectural Museum Complex "Nakhchivangala"
Historical and Architectural Museum Complex "Nakhchivangala" is located in the territory of culture formation during 5 thousand years of the ancient city of Nakhchivan. This historical monument, located in the south-east of Nakhchivan city, was built in 632-652 years. As a result of the repeated wars, Nakhchivangala was destroyed several times and then restored again. In 2010, reconstruction and restoration works of Nakhchivangala began, and in 2014, the complex began functioning as a museum.
The museum presents 487 exhibits. The precious exhibits of the museum are household pitcher of V millennium BC, various household items of V- III millennium BC, ceramic products of Bronze and early Iron Age, copper pots and tools, tombstones, monuments, weapons, and armored clothes. The museum presents carpets and national clothes of XIX century.
In the underground part of the complex, restoration works were also conducted. In the museum, ceramic products, household items, and tombstones found during archaeological excavations are exhibited.

The Museum and Square of National Flag
The Square and Museum of the National Flag were established according to the Decree of the Chief of the Supreme Majlis of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic dated on August 22, 2014, and started functioning since November 17, 2014. 117 exhibits are preserved and demonstrated there. Museum of the National Flag has great importance from point of informing future generations about the history and attributes of our state. In the museum, a copy of solution dated from November 17, 1990, "On state symbols of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic" adopted by the supreme legislative body of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic on the initiative of national leader Heydar Aliyev, and photos related to this historic day are demonstrated. Restored flags of Nakhchivan Khanate and the states that existed on the territory of Nakhchivan, emblems and administrative maps, flags of cavalry troops of Nakhchivan Khanate, combat uniforms, constitutions of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, adopted in different years, and photographs of old banknotes are exhibited in the museum.

“ALINJAGALA” HISTORICAL-CULTURAL MUSEUM
“Alinjagala” Historical and Cultural Museum was created by the decree “On restoration of “Alinjagala” in Julfa region” signed by the Chairman of Supreme Assembly, on February 11, 2014. On June 17, 2016, Alinjagala historical monument and museum was opened.
The museum consists of an exhibition hall and 2 offices. There are 159 exhibits in the museum fund, and 124 of them are in the exhibition hall. The photographs of Alinjagala before, during, and after restoration, books, articles, and newspapers written about its history, painted ceramic pieces, pottery, and lamps found in the territory of fortress are exhibited in the museum. Moreover, silver belt patterns, various socks, skull-cap, and other knitting patterns, tools and accessories, valuable artifacts are also exhibited here.

The house-museum of academician Yusif Mammadaliyev
The house-museum of academician Yusif Mammadaliyev is located in Ordubad region. The museum was founded in 1975. The building is two-storey. Fund and work rooms are located on the ground floor, and the exhibition hall is on the first floor. In one of the rooms, photographs depicting the life and work of the scientist are presented. The second room is designed for guests. In the third room, antique carpets, embroidery, handicraft articles, and wardrobe are demonstrated. The museum houses 2,010 exhibits, which include documents relating to the different periods of the life and work of the scientist, published works, photos and pictures of memory. The exhibition includes 250 exhibits.

House Museum of M.S. Ordubadi
The museum was founded in June, 1972, in writer's house, on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of his birth. The museum keeps photographs giving a unique insight into the life and work of the writer, various documents, memorabilia of the writer's life in this house, portraits, copies of works published in different cities and in different languages, letters and manuscripts, and also photographs of prominent people, with whom M.S. Ordubadi communicated. The museum also operates in the field of study of M.S. Ordubadi’s literary heritage. The museum presents 711 exhibits. Each year the museum is visited by about 2,000 people.

House Museum of Mammad Tagi Sidgi
The museum was founded in August, 2015 in the house of the outstanding teacher, educator, and poet on the occasion of the 160th anniversary of his birth. The museum building is two-storey. The exhibition hall is located on the first floor. Fund and work rooms considered for the workers of the museum are on the ground floor. Selections of Sidgi's wise words, photographs reflecting different periods of his life, as well as of his family members, colleagues and his students of the outstanding personalities are displayed. Also here, biography of prominent educator, manuscripts, published articles and books, as well as services in the field of theater, reflecting the valuable samples, conference materials to study the rich heritage of outstanding teacher, accepted programs, written books about Mahammad Taghi Sidgi, magazines, materials, and photos are protected. The museum exhibits are valuable scientific sources for who studies Sidgi's creativity. There are 594 exhibits in the museum.

Gamigaya museum
One of the most ancient settlements in the world Gamigaya is located in the North-East from the villages Tivi and Nasirvaz of Ordubad region, on the highest peak of the Lesser Caucasus, Gapijik Mountain. Chairman of the Supreme Assembly of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic signed Decree on April 26, 2001 "On the study of Gamigaya monument in Ordubad", the monument was studied in detail, and Art-historical Reserve "Gamigaya" was created. In 2014, a building was constructed for the Art-historical Reserve "Gamigaya" and the museum. The museum, consisting of an exhibition hall and 2-rooms, stores 213 exhibits. Currently, 106 of these exhibits are presented in the exhibition hall. The museum presents rock paintings, various books related to the research work in Gamigaya, newspapers, photographs and materials of scientific symposia related to the five thousand years history of Nakhchivan. The Gamigaya monument is a collection, which presents rock paintings, reflecting the religious, ideological, mythological, political beliefs of the ancient people, the dawn of the evolution of human history, that have a very great importance for the historical ethnography and archeology of our nation. The theme of these drawings which is differed for its plot, composition complication was dedicated to the belief and labour activity of our forefathers.

House museum of Mammad Araz
House Museum of Mammad Araz was established on December 1, 2014, in the commemoration day of the national poet, in his native village Nursu of Shahbuz district. The museum building consists of two floors. In the museum, exhibits reflecting the rich heritage and the life of the writer are demonstrated. The museum presents 1260 exhibits including the poet's books, published in different years, as well as books about the life and work of the master, including photographs depicting different periods of his life. There are provided all the conditions in the museum for a detailed study and widespread of Mammad Araz’s oeuvre, and for conducting of virtual classes between schools and the museum.

Shakhtakhtinski’s Museum
The museum was founded in 2010 in the Kangarli village of Shahtakhti district. The museum consists of two exhibition halls and two service rooms. The museum presents 373 exhibits. Decrees of the Chairman of Supreme Assembly of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic "On celebration of the 160th anniversary of the birth of the outstanding public figure, writer and teacher Muhammad Shakhtakhtinski and perpetuating of his memory” dated from February 27, 2006 and "On establishment of Shakhtakhtinski Museum” dated from February 9, 2010 are demonstrated at the exhibition. Presented in the museum information about Shakhtakhtinski’s genealogy, their manuscripts, photos of contemporaries and other exhibits give comprehensive understanding of a whole generation of intellectuals. The museum contains materials not only about Muhammad aga and Behbud aga Shakhtakhtinski, but also about living and working of other representatives of the genus Shakhtakhtinski in different periods of history, about their fight for the nation and state. Another distinctive feature is that the museum has a separate room for living of Shakhtakhtinski’s descendants. This museum in a certain sense serves for the Shakhtakhtinski’s descendants living in different countries of the world, to establish a connection with the homeland and ancestral home.

Memorial Museum named after J.Mammadgulu
Memorial Museum named after J.Mammadguluzadeh created in 1987, functions in the village Jalilkand of Sharur region, where the writer worked as a teacher. Since 2013, it has worked as an independent museum, and in 2015, the museum continues to operate in the new building. Museum consists of exhibition hall, stock, and 2 of working rooms. The museum presents 439 exhibits. 106 of these exhibits are presented in the exhibition hall. Exhibits consists of objects used by the writer, penned works in different years, "Molla Nasreddin" magazine in different numbers, as well as books about the legacy of J.Mammadguluzadeh. Each of these valuable specimens in the museum of the current literary and critical realism "Molla Nasreddin" literary founder of a small story genre and won great fame as the creator of the satirical publicity invaluable sources for the study of the writer's legacy.

The State Picture Gallery
Nakhchivan State Art Gallery, located on the second floor of the palace, was established by the decree of national leader Heydar Aliyev in 1982. In the fond of the gallery, not only paintings of Nakhchivani painters, but also paintings oter Azerbaijani and Russian painters are preserved. In the exposition hall where the handicrafts of prominent Azerbaijani painters are compelled, works as "National leader", "Zarifa Aliyeva", "XXI century - Heydar Aliyev"display the modern history of our country. Other interesting works in the gallery depict rich traditions and modern development of Azerbaijan art school, realities of independent Azerbaijan. 277 exhibits are preserved and displayed in the Nakhchivan Pictire Gallery.
