Theatres

There are 8 theatres in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic including Nakhchivan State Musical Drama Theatre named after J.Mammadguluzade, Nakhchivan State Puppet Theatre named after Mahammad Taghi Sidgi, Nakhchivan State Child Theatre, Sharur, Ordubad, Babek and Shahbuz Region Folk Theatres .   

NAKHCHIVAN STATE MUSICAL DRAMA THEATRE NAMED AFTER JALIL MAMMADGULUZADEH

“Monsieur Jordan  va Darviş Mastali Shah” by Mirza Fatali Akhundov was staged at Haji Najaf Zeynalov's house for the first time by “Muslim art and dram society” which  was organized  by progressive Nakhchivan  intellegents under the leadership of Eynalibay Sultanov, and Nakhchivan  theatre was  founded with this performance. Afterwards,  “Molla Ibrahimkhalil kimyagar”, “Lankaran khaninin vaziri”, “Haji Gara” comedies by M.T.Akhundov, “Musibati Fakhraddin” by N.Vazirov, “Dagilan tifaq” by A.Hagverdiyev, “Nadir shah” by N.Narimanov, and other works were staged. In 1922, theatre got the state status. Theatre prepares performances both in romantic and realistic directions. Works of world classics and musical works have great importance in performance of the theatre. Several generations of talented actors and directors were educated in this theatre.  The great writer J.Mammadguluzade's name is given to the theatre in 1965.

By the resolution “About the 125th anniversary of Nakhchivan State Musical Drama Theatre named after  J.Mammadguluzade” by Azerbaijan Republic President on January 31, 2008, and by the resolution “About celebration of the 125th anniversary of Nakhchivan  State Musical Drama Theatre  named after J.Mammadguluzade in Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic” by the Chairman of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic  Supreme Assembly Vasif Talibov  on  February 6, 2008, in accordance with the Action Plan approved by the Decree, the 125th anniversary of the theatre  was widely celebrated.

The building of the theatre  was rebuilt again due to the new project and it was put into use  on February 3, 2012.

THE NAKHCHIVAN STATE PUPPET THEATRE NAMED AFTER MAHAMMAD TAGHI SIDGI

The Theatre was organized in 1989. It is named after M.T.Sidgi in 2004. Theatre stages performances which play an important role in upbringing of children and youth in the spirit of  national, spiritual-moral values, in formation of their outlook. Theatre had been in tours in other regions of Azerbaijan,  in several cities of Turkey and Iran Islamic Republic, and it had taken part in  puppet theaters festival which was organized in Tajikistan Republic.

 THE NAKHCHIVAN STATE CHILD THEATRE

It was organized by the resolution of the Chairman of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Supreme Assembly in 2006. Nakhchivan State Child Theatre showed its first performance in 2006. It makes performances for children and youth. The main difference of theatre is that the actors are mainly children.

   NAKHCHIVAN STATE PHILHARMONIC

This cultural institution was established in 1983, and started its activity based on the Nakhchivan State "Araz" Song and Dance Ensemble. There is Orchestra of Folk Instruments, Chamber Orchestra, Variety Orchestra, Song and Dance Ensemble, Gamigaya Instrumental Ensemble and choral collective in Nakhchivan State Philharmonic. The creative collective of the Philharmonic has visited Russia, Uzbekistan, Turkey, Iran, Switzerland, Hungary, Germany and other countries and performed concert programs.

NAKHCHIVAN STATE CHILDREN'S PHILHARMONY

The Nakhchivan State Children's Philharmonic was established in 2010 by the Order of the Chairman of the Supreme Assembly of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. There are Folk Instruments Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra, the Song and Dance Ensemble, and the choral collective in this cultural institution.
