Nakhchivan city was declared the capital of Islamic Culture for 2018 with the decision adopted in the sixth conference held in Baku in 2009 by the culture ministers of member states to Islamic Cooperation Organization. With the order dated 2 July 2016 by the President of Azerbaijan, Organization Committee was established in connection with the declaration of Nakhchivan city as the capital of Islamic culture for 2018. At the meeting held in Nakhchivan city on November 25, 2016 by the Organization Committee the Plan of Measures was confirmed and began to be implemented. According to the Action Plan, “Nakhchivan, the capital of Islamic Culture-2018” official internet site was created by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic and the Ministry of Communication and New technologies of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. Official internet page of “Nakhchivan, the capital of Islamic Culture-2018” created in Azerbaijani and English was put into use on January 13, 2018. (www.imp.nakhchivan.az)
Internet page consists of 8 major and 27 subsections “Homepage” section is composed of “Official documents” and “Events” subsections. The order “About the establishment of Organization regarding the declaration of Nakhchivan city as the capital of Islamic Culture for 2018” by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the order by the Chairman of Supreme Assembly of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic about the preparation of logotype “Nakhchivan, the capital of Islamic Culture-2018” were placed in the section of “Official documents”. The information about the solution to the affairs considered in the Action Plan has been reflected in the section of “Events”
The main section of the site titled “About Nakhchivan” consists of subsections of “Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic”, “Nature”, “Cities and regions”. Information about the history of Autonomous Republic, its fauna and flora, administrative area division, transportation infrastructure, administrative buildings, concert-play, educational institutions and other fields has been placed in these sections.
The Culture section of the site includes 12 subsections “Mosques”, “Imamzadehs”,“Historical-architectural monuments”, “Craftsmanship”, “Architecture”, “National dancing”, “National Musical instruments”, “National clothing”, National cuisine”, “Museums”, “Theatres” and “Libraries”.
Information about the fields of Culture and Arts has been placed in these sections, as well as, there are passages to “Nakhchivan national clothing” and “Nakhchivan cuisine” electronic books. Detailed information about the museums, theatres and libraries operating in Autonomous Republic in the site.
In the section entitled “Tourism”, tourism potential of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, the objects of religious and treatment tourisms, as well as, objects of placement, address and contact means were noted.
“Photo and video materials about historical-cultural monuments of Autonomous Republic, its tourism potential, its parks, its hotels and modern infrastructure were placed in “Photo gallery” and “Video gallery” sections.
In “Useful information” section detailed information was given about banks and foreign agencies operating in the Autonomous Republic, address and contact means were placed. Passage links to other electronic resources were given which are regarded as useful information, as well. In the section of “Visitors’ opinions”, opinion notebook was created and it enables site users to write electronic opinions. Events held during the year in connection with Nakhchivan’s becoming the capital of Islamic culture for 2018, the work done and novelties will find their reflection on the official internet page “Nakhchivan, the capital of Islamic Culture-2018”.
