Postage stamps and envelopes dedicated to the declaration of Nakhchivan City as the Capital of Islamic Culture in 2018 have been put into circulation.
As it is known, with the decision at the sixth conference of culture ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in October 2009 in Baku, Nakhchivan was declared the capital of Islamic culture for 2018.
According to the Order signed by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev on March 2, 2016, at its first meeting of the Organization Committee held on 25th of September, the direction of the preparations was determined in connection with the declaration of Nakhchivan City as the capital of the Islamic Culture for 2018, and the project of action plans were discussed.

Nakhchivan city was declared the capital of Islamic Culture for 2018 with the decision adopted in the sixth conference held in Baku in 2009 by the culture ministers of member states to Islamic Cooperation Organization. With the order dated 2 July 2016 by the President of Azerbaijan, Organization Committee was established in connection with the declaration of Nakhchivan city as the capital of Islamic culture for 2018. At the meeting held in Nakhchivan city on November 25, 2016 by the Organization Committee the Plan of Measures was confirmed and began to be implemented. According to the Action Plan, “Nakhchivan, the capital of Islamic Culture-2018” official internet site was created by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic and the Ministry of Communication and New technologies of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic. Official internet page of “Nakhchivan, the capital of Islamic Culture-2018” created in Azerbaijani and English was put into use on January 13, 2018. (www.imp.nakhchivan.az)

As it is known, according to the decree of the sixth conference of the culture ministers of the member states of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) held in Baki in October 2009, the city of Nakhchivan was declared the capital city of the Islamic culture for 2018. This will be a memorable event in the life of our autonomous republic, our country, as well as the Islamic world in general.
The events to be held in connection with the declaration of Nakhchivan the capital city of the Islamic culture is important not only from the point of view of recognition of the culture, rich tourism potential, but also for the propagation of the produced goods in Islamic countries as well as in many other countries of the world.
